The important steps of laying out a project in preparation for accurate joinery are the skills that you will discover as you build two projects in this workshop.
Through instruction and demonstration we help you develop the skills of hand-tool joinery. This course will give you confidence in hand-cutting dovetails, dados and mortise & tenon joints, as well as adjusting and using a handplane and spokeshave.
During this course you will build a dovetailed Shaker candle box and an arched wall shelf while learning how to set hinges by hand, how to create a rounded profile with a hand plane and how to cut an arch using traditional hand methods.
We designed these projects to teach the fundamentals of different skills and techniques. These skills are essential to any woodworker and can be used in many different applications and projects that you may wish to build at home.
Classes start 9 a.m. usually finish at 5:30 p.m
Note: Since our workshops are specifically designed for adults, an individual must be 18 years old to enroll in a class. All students should wear practical work clothes and shoes. For your safety, we ask that you do not wear shorts or sandals to a class you are attending.
