Welcome to our beginner level classes!
It’s completely natural to wonder, “Am I actually creative enough for this?” or “Is the investment really worth it?” We get it. Spending money and precious time on a new skill is a massive leap of faith. But working with your hands is one of the few genuine ways left to completely unplug from the screen, clear your mind, and make something tangible.
Our beginner level classes focus on the skills rather than the project, which reduces the stress and intimidation of finishing a project. You will never have to worry about loud, scary power machinery here. Instead, you’ll discover the quiet satisfaction of using a sharp hand plane, sharp chisels and handsaws as you learn basic traditional joinery. You’ll leave here with a peaceful, practical skill you will truly love for life and can pass on to others.
What you will learn:
• Sharpening: learn what sharp is and how to achieve it.
• Wood Selection: Learn to select and process wood using hand tools or basic machinery.
• Traditional Joinery: learn how to layout and cut; dovetails, dados, and mortise & tenon joints. To use multiple hand-tools, including hand planes, handsaws, chisels, square and marking knife to name a few.
• Tool Maintenance: Understand how to tune and maintain your tools for lifelong use.
